All the words you need
A silent stirring. The spirit
of light. Everything
is too much.
Row.
Here are all the words
you need—use them
wisely.
This combistory is a little bit different from my earlier ones. Part combinatory play, part found poem. I created it from five Instagram posts of artists I follow. Please click on the links in the poem to see their work and the words of the poem in situ. The artists, in the order presented here, are:
Wen Redmond “makes the imagination real” using fibre and mixed media.
Jude Hill creates spirit cloth in the woods of New York State.
Mary Larsen layers images on canvas and transforms book pages, creating dreamscapes in which “images of violence and beauty collide and become confused.”
Elizabeth Bunsen is a light chaser who has been known to brake at the sight of a pink sky.
Di Smith, a self-taught, multidisciplinary artist, experiments near Studio 51 in Prince Albert, South Africa.
May these artists inspire you as much as they inspire me.

Your combistories, not only wonderful morsels of poetry but breadcrumbs leading to ever more wonderfulness… that I would maybe never have found… and for which I thank you.
Delighted you followed some of my little trails of crumbs, Carin!
In the wee hours before dawn, I am inspired by your poem, your imagination, your
cross-pollination. Your economy and brilliance with words. Thank you.
Thank you, Laurie. I’ve been thinking of you and your dad and sending love and strength.
Clever, delightful, intriguing … and such a grand idea. And combistory is such an exploration. Each exploration was wondrous.
Thank you, Diane! I’m delighted you explored. Leslie
